This is an affordable reproduction of the original VW antenna for the Vanagon.  It doesn't retract all the way to the body like the German Hirshmann antenna and leaves about 12" of antenna exposed when retracted.

 

Note: if you still have the factory original VW stereo, please be aware that some units came with a VW only antenna plug that requires either using an original VW antenna or purchasing an adapter to allow a regular antenna to work. 

Note: The packaging may state that it fits a beetle 67-79.  Rest assured it will also fit your Vanagon.
