You asked for it, we had them made. Not everyone wants to raise their Vanagon. Carat springs were the lowest of original production springs. Many Vanagon owners found appealing the handling characteristics of this spring rate and the look of this height. We were fortunate enough to find one remaining set of brand new Carat springs in Germany as our model. We had them reproduced here by the same manufacturer that makes our other springs. We are very pleased with the result. Other springs we offer are all above original stock height or much lower than stock. This gives us a spring option that threads the needle. Please keep in mind that this spring was produced for the Carat model Vanagon. This vehicle was designed for the weight of the tin-top - non-camper both for height and handling. We do understand people may choose to use it for other applications and in those instances, we are in less of a position to provide feedback. An empty Westy with Carat springs will have a ride height of roughly 15.25", while a TinTop will have a ride height of 15.5". Ride may vary as to the year of the van and the accessories you have bolted to it.

Best used in conjunction with Koni's or Revalved Bilsteins XHD. With other shocks, it is too bouncy for our liking. For test purposes, I put them on my Westy with 215/60/16 tires on 7.5" wide alloys. No rub under normal driving condition. I could make them rub if I hit driveway entrance at an angle at a high rate of speed. Safer to run with 15" wheels 7.0" width or less and 215/70/15 tires. Feel free to discuss this with us.
