Wahler was the original supplier of thermostats to Volkswagen and is our preferred brand. Lower temp thermostat value for that added margin of safety. It opens at 80 degrees Celcius. This is nice in hotter weather, or if you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic a lot, since it will start to cool the Van off at a lower temperature, as compared to our 87 Degree Stock Thermostat, which opens at a higher temperature and is more useful in colder weather since it will allow the Van to heat up more before sending a flush of coolant to cool it down.

Though we only stock brands whose quality we can trust, we recommend that you test your thermostat before installing it. Carefully lower the thermostat into a pot of boiling water to ensure that it opens correctly. Take care when removing the thermostat afterward, as it will retain its heat. Set aside to cool before trying to install.
