This is the stock thermostat value that the Vanagon originally came with. Includes the sealing o-ring that we prefer.

Opens at 87 degrees Celcius. This is nice in colder weather since it will allow the Van to heat up more before sending a flush of coolant to cool it down, as opposed to our 80 Degree Thermostat which is more useful in hotter weather, or if you find yourself in stop-and-go traffic a lot since it will start to cool the Van off at a lower temperature.

Though we only stock brands whose quality we can trust, we recommend that you test your thermostat before installing. Simply lower the thermostat into a pot of boiling water to ensure that it opens correctly. Take care when removing the stat afterwards as it will retain its heat. Set aside to cool before trying to install.
