It looks as though new German viscous couplings are now gone for good. Tooling was worn out, and rumor has it that the equipment has been mothballed. When they last had them, VW sold the last viscous couplings for $2162.00 list price. So now we are offering a rebuilt stock unit, Rebuilt by the well-respected experts at German Transaxles of America.
All components in the VC are inspected and measured for wear, the main breakaway shaft is micro-polished, and seals and gaskets are replaced with new OEM parts to reseal the unit (this is a common point of failure for these VCs). OEM silicone fluid is replaced as well. We offer a 6-Month warranty for the viscous couplers. However, damage due to overheating is not covered under warranty. Additionally, the Syncro must have four identically sized tires, or the viscous coupler may prematurely wear out and will not be covered under warranty.

NOTE: You will be charged a $300 core charge upon placing your order. Your core must be returned within 90 days of purchase to receive credit for your core charge. Just ship us your rebuildable viscous coupler back, and this amount will be refunded. Please include a copy of your invoice in the box and indicate that you'd like a core refund to expedite your return. Write core return on the outside of the box.
