Rear hatch lock assembly for non-power door locks very early 84 thru 91- Vin number 24-E-005434 on.

This lock uses a VW Golf MKIII style key stock, Vanagon key stocks will not fit: If you wish you can drive the pin out of the new lock cylinder and replace it with your old Vanagon cylinder. Insert the key and rotate the cylinder to the locked position and push in. This will expose the pin on the backside of the cylinder. If your old cylinder is worn out or all of this sounds too complicated, just use the keys supplied with the new cylinder. If you have power locks you can still use this lock, it just won't operate when you turn the key for the power lock and will have to be locked or unlocked manually.
