Tired of worrying whether or not your Vanagon will start after a quick trip to the store?  Sick of crossing your fingers when you go to start the Van after a fuel fill up?  Electrical resistance increases with heat and if your starter sounds like it's turning slowly during warm starts, this is the fix for you.  In vans with engine conversions, this upgrade is a necessity to turn high compression modern engines. 

This kit contains a Bosch SR0425N high torque starter, an adapter plate, and a plug-n'-play electrical harness.  

Fitment Notes: 

- Does NOT fit original VW diesel bellhousings.

- Syncro applications with locker using the SR0408X starter (we recommend using the SR0425N for all Syncros!!!), will require a 3/4" notch for the diff-lock bracket, and you must use the longer (2.25") type bracket and corresponding locker pin. Sorry, it will not work with the short bracket unless you extend both the bracket and the locker pin.

- This starter and adapter works with Vanagon transaxles.  If you are using a Subaru transmission, you will need to use a Subaru high torque starter.

- This kit can also be used on 2wd manual transmission vans if you don't want the hassle of dealing with the core charge associated with our kit that uses the Bosch SR0408X
