In House Conversion Warranty

We at Rocky Mountain Westy go to great lengths to provide you with a reliable engine for your Vanagon which will provide you with years of reliability, ease of maintenance and increased power and efficiency. Rocky Mountain Westy conversions are done with 2.5 liter SOHC engines that come from any model Subaru sold in the U.S. between the years of 2000 and 2004. There was one model in 1999 that was a SOHC 2.5 liter engine and that was the Forester. We are using rebuilt engines from a reputable engine builder which come with a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty. This warranty pays parts and labor nationwide up to $95/hr. The warranty covers book time on a Subaru, not how long it took to put into the Vanagon, but the beauty about that is, it takes pretty much the same time to R+I a Subaru engine in a Vanagon as it does the Subaru car itself. Furthermore, the warranty is also transferable to your buyer if you decide to sell your Vanagon in that warranty period. The warranty is also valid even though the Subaru is going into a VW van, so don’t worry, you are covered.

Rocky Mountain Westy acquires many donor vehicles from a variety of sources. These donor vehicles contain the necessary components to accompany the actual block and cylinder heads that are rebuilt when we install these conversions. These used components consist of the top half of the engine, including intake accessories, fuel injection parts, engine and emissions sensors, engine electrical components, ventilation valves, and intake harness as well as some other components, (see component list for a full description of new and used parts). Some of these upper engine parts are not available new and cannot be offered to the customer as such; therefore it is necessary to reuse these components on a rebuild. Rocky Mountain Westy goes a step further in the process of trying to eliminate any issues caused by parts that commonly fail or become an issue due to mileage and/or age by installing certain parts and sensors new as a standard, non-optional feature when offering rebuilds. For example, in the combined years of experience that our technicians have, we have seen many ignition wires fail on the Subaru; however, we have not seen that many central coil packs fail. Therefore, it is standard that the ignition wires be replaced as new and not the central coil pack. Other common failure components that are replaced new consist of knock sensors, oxygen sensors, PCV valve, water temp sensors, etc. Adding these new parts eliminates many common failures, however, the potential for unforeseen failures still exist, and still happen occasionally at random. In order to offer a reliable conversion at an affordable price to the customer, some of the top side engine components are reused including, but not limited to , the engine accessories, e.g. power steering pump, alternator, and air conditioning compressor. These accessories are installed used but can be requested to be replaced new by the customer for an additional charge of the part only if installed and acquired before or during the conversion. All manufactured RMW parts are warranted for a period of 12 months from the time of install.
