This wiper shaft transfers the motion of the wiper linkage under the dash to the wiper arm outside the van.  These can fail in multiple ways:  the mechanism can wear out, the splines that index and secure the wiper arm can degrade, etc.

Fits all 1980-1991 Vanagons.

This is the right/passenger side wiper shaft.
