Get rid of the ticking time bomb that can kill your van!  Our Stainless Steel Coolant Pipes are one of our most popular upgrades! Vanagon's used plastic coolant pipes - which may break and leave you stranded! At Van Cafe, we manufacture custom bent stainless steel coolant pipes to keep your Vanagon running smoothly.

Why you need to do this job:

Your Vanagon came from the factory with either steel or plastic pipes to transport coolant from the engine in the rear to the radiator up front.  Now that our vans are several decades old, the original pipes are degrading badly - the steel pipes are rusting and the plastic pipes crack.

Features of our stainless steel coolant pipes:

  • Mandrel-bent for a perfect factory match
  • Stainless steel will outlast your van
  • Complete with silicone connecting hoses and clamps
  • Lifetime warranty against manufacture defect
  • Designed and manufactured in Fort Collins, Colorado
  • FREE SHIPPING to most addresses

Fitment Notes:

  • 1.9L Vanagons came with either metal pipes (earlier production 83.5- most 84) or plastic pipes (most 1985).  The metal pipes were smaller in diameter, 1-1/4" vs. the 1 1/2" plastic ones. This product is 1-1/2" in diameter.
  • Please check your pipes for which size you need before placing your order.
  • Although it is not necessary to remove the fuel tank, the installation is easier if you loosen the fuel tank brackets and lower the back of the tank an inch or two.
  • If you slightly lower the tank rather than remove it, the pipes can be installed without disturbing the evaporative components above the tank.
