Fall Forecast: Adventure Ahead

The only forecast you can count on: more adventures!

Fall is one of those seasons that keeps you guessing (maybe that's why we love it). One day it’s blue skies and perfect hiking weather, the next you’re pulling on a beanie and wishing you had packed an extra jacket. That’s part of the magic of hitting the road in September — you never really know what you’re going to get, but it’s almost always worth the ride.

For van folks like us, fall travel is kind of the sweet spot. The crowds thin out, the colors start changing, and every stop feels a little cozier. Mornings can be crisp, evenings can turn chilly fast, and in between you might get those golden-hour drives that make you roll the windows down and forget about everything else.

But here’s the thing: unpredictable weather doesn’t have to mean unpredictable comfort. With the right gear, you’re ready for it all:

Crisp mornings → warm rides. Fire up your Propex propane heater, throw on a hoodie, and watch the steam rise from your coffee while the world wakes up around you.

Sunny hikes to cozy nights. Stretch your legs all day, then settle back into your van knowing you’ll be warm and dry when the temps drop.

Surprise rain = no problem. Good prep means a wet forecast doesn’t have to cut your trip short.

Fall travel has a way of slowing everything down. You take your time, you notice the little things — the crunch of leaves under your boots, the way the air smells cleaner, the way your van feels like the perfect shelter when the wind picks up. It’s why so many of us chase these shoulder-season trips. It’s not about perfect weather, it’s about embracing whatever comes your way.

So pack for both sunshine and chilly nights. Load up on road trip snacks, maybe toss in an extra blanket (or two), and let the season do its thing. Wherever the forecast points, you’ll be ready.

Because at the end of the day, the only thing predictable about fall van adventures is that they always turn into good stories.
